Ron worked for IBM UK Ltd for 25 years, five as the UK Safety
Manager. As Company Safety manager for IBM, he was responsible for strategic
direction of the Safety Programme, and for advising on all aspects of
occupational safety. He represented the company in European and US seminars,
and frequently managed reviews of the major IBM facilities in Europe.
He has also written a book "Essential Health and Safety for Managers".Ron
has been with QSM as an associate for approximately 8 years and has been
actively involved in a number of safety management training programmes
within the rail sector.

Nigel has almost 30 years experience as a safety practitioner
of which 13 years was with HSE as one of HM Inspectors of Factories and
Specialist (Occupational Hygiene) Inspectors. He later joined British
Nuclear Fuels as Occupational Hygiene Manager. Nigel is a director of
QSM and has been actively engaged in the design and delivery of safety
management services and providing general consultancy support including
training. He was actively involved in the Safety Management for Projects
programme for the Major Projects Division of Railtrack.

Experience
Julian Franey has over 30 years experience as a safety practitioner, 12
of which were spend as one of HM Inspectors of Factories with the Health
and Safety Executive. He has also experience in commercial risk management
having spent 3 years with one of the world's leading insurance brokers.
Over the last 10 years he has been with QSM and has been directly involved
in the design, development and delivery of safety management systems as
well training programmes to support their implementation. He also provides
additional technical consultancy support to clients. This includes the
design and delivery of a range of safety management projects for the rail,
chemical and nuclear sectors.
Eugenio
Grandi

Experience
Eugenio's career includes 12 years in a number of senior management roles,
always responsible for the development of managerial competence in specially
tasked management teams. Since 1981 he has been involved in assisting
organisations both strategically and through other training initiatives
in equipping management with the competencies, attitudes and skills necessary
to manage rapid organisational change. Eugenio is a Director of QSM Limited
and has been involved directly in the development of health and safety
training initiatives since 1989.

Experience
Kevin developed his interest in organisation culture and safety in his involvement in the
post-Flixborough research he undertook whilst with Sheffield School of Management (now)
Hallam University. This was a study of the human aspects that led to the disaster itself
and the steps necessary to avoid the likelihood of such an event in future. His subsequent
work in risk management has focused upon the organisation development and training aspects
in developing a safety culture. He has particular expertise is in competence development,
zero accident and incident strategy and its implementation along with the design of change
programmes to ensure their success. Much of his current work has focussed upon Safety
Leadership behaviour and in enabling different teams and organisations to work together.
He works across many sectors including; engineering, rail transportation, financial
services, and information technology. Kevin is a director of QSM and Quarto.
Jonathan
Robinson

Experience
Jonathan has spent some 20 years as a safety practitioner with Adtranz
(now Bombardier Transportation) where he held the position of Risk Manager.
He has implemented within the Adtranz companies in the UK an integrated
risk management system throughout the organisation so that the company
now has a safety culture where risks are effectively managed by all involved
including the shop floor. He has also sat on the Engineering Employers
Federation Safety Policy Committee and is a visiting lecturer to Aston
University.

Paul has 28 years experience as a safety practitioner of which 26 have
been with the Health and Safety Executive. During his time with the HSE
he was appointed as H M Principal Inspector of Factories for the chemicals
group based in London with special responsibility for asbestos licensing,
major hazards and gas safety. Prior to joining the chemicals group he
spent some 7 years as Principal Inspector in the construction group in
London and has been directly involved in the application of the Construction
Design and Management Regulations 1994. Paul has worked with QSM as an
associate over the past few years and has been actively involved in delivery
of safety management initiatives and general training.
